Goldmine, June 2005

By Wayne Youngblood, EDITOR

As an essentially unorganized collector by nature, I'm always happy to find something that helps me make some order of my mess. Without organizational tools of some sort, my favorite CDs and DVDs seem to submerge themselves without a trace in the wilds of my hobby room, only to resurface years later

- just like a tire rises to the top of a landfill. I'm happy to report I've found a new item that helps considerably in avoiding this pesky problem. A new product line

- DiscSox CD and DVD sleeves (from MMDesign) are the first products on the market that hold the entire packaging of CDs and DVDs without the bulk

- in fact, only about one-fifth of the bulk that comes with the original packaging. Thus you can store 75 CDs or DVDs in a 12-inch tray (as opposed to about 17 in standard cases). Each DiscSox CD sleeve (and there are several designs) is soft vinyl and contains protective pockets for one or two discs, plus organizational tools. The DVD DiscSox sleeves (DVD or CD), contain pockets for one or two DVDs as well as the wraparound cover (including the cardboard style used by Warner Bros.). For organizational purposes, the DiscSox system also comes with dividers, labels and trays. Like most great innovations, the DiscSox system was created from need. In 1993, MMDesign president Marcel Manzardo had his CD collection come crashing down on his head, leading him to seek efficient storage and retrieval systems. I'd say he succeeded!
